Selena öppnar upp om samarbetet med adidas

Exclusive! Selena Gomez Opens Up About Her Next Chapter And Dressing For Herself The superstar tells us about her new Adidas designing gig and what to expect in the year ahead. Selena Gomez is on the verge, both of adulthood and apparent world domination. It’s easy to forget that the preternaturally poised (and seriously omnipresent) star is just 20 years old — and that she’s only getting started. We met the singer-actress hybrid last week while she was in New York City on business, accepting Glamour’s Woman of the Year award and shooting the first campaign for her new gig as style icon and designer for Adidas’s teen-focused Neo label. If Neo sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because Selena’s is-he-isn’t-he boyfriend Justin Bieber was named a spokesperson for the brand last month. While Justin doesn’t plan on doing any designing for Adidas just yet, Selena dove right in. Her design experience with her own brand, Dream Out Loud, provided a helpful foundation, but she soon learned Adidas is another animal completely. “They know what’s going to happen in 2014!” she explains. “They know all the hip stuff, so I almost feel like the underdog coming in and learning about the whole design process.” [[MORE]]  It’s hard to imagine Selena as an underdog, though she remains just as humble when talking about her own style. When we told her she was a red carpet staple, she smiled and followed up a thank you with “that’s awkward”. (“In a good way, we promise!” was our subsequent response.) She considers her first big fashion moment to be when she wore Marchesa for the very first time; it made her realize she wanted to know more about this crazy fashion thing. Since then, we’ve seen her turn it out in fancy frocks by the likes of Christian Cota and Dolce & Gabbana. Alas, she insists she’ll “always be a jeans and T-shirt girl at heart”. The next year will surely be a big one for Selena, and not only since she’ll unveil her first collection for Adidas. First up is an out-of-the-box role in Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers. “It was hard at first to step into something that was completely out of my comfort zone in all ways possible. But Harmony is the best, and I really trusted him,” she says. “It was challenging, and I’m definitely proud of it. It’s a different kind of movie, though. I was warning my fans, it might not be for everybody.” She’s also currently in the studio recording her fourth record; she has plans to tour once it’s complete. And as her twenties loom ahead of her, she does have some advice for her teenage self: “Don’t stress as much. Every little thing seems like the end of the world, and it’s hard to step back and look at the bigger picture. That’s what I’m learning to do.”
