Italy raring to go as they arrive at EURO base

Italy caught everyone on the hop when they touched down in Montpellier almost an hour ahead of schedule. Clearly UEFA EURO 2016 cannot start soon enough for Antonio Conte's side.

Italy are clearly in a hurry to get their UEFA EURO 2016 campaign up and running. Forty-five minutes earlier than scheduled, the Squadra Azzurra touched down at L'Aéroport Montpellier Méditerranée late on Wednesday evening.

The 22nd of the 24 participating nations to arrive in France, Italy were greeted by local dignitaries of club side Montpellier as well as representatives of the city and Italian consulate.

Italian Football Federation (FIGC) president Carlo Tavecchio led head coach Antonio Conte and his team onto the awaiting bus for the short trip to Italy's UEFA EURO 2016 base, located in the heart of the vibrant Languedoc-Roussillon city.

Earlier, Italy's players congregated at Milan's Malpensa airport after spending time with their families and friends following Monday's 2-0 victory over Finland in Verona. The Italy squad's attention is now firmly on their opening fixture against Belgium in Lyon on Monday.

A first training session will take place on Thursday morning at 10:30 local time. After that, Casa Azzurri and the media centre will be formally opened, with Conte holding a press conference.

Given how early Italy arrived on Wednesday, though, one can expect those times to change with Italy keen to get their pursuit of glory going sooner rather than later.(http://www.uefa.com/)
