Pete Sampras: Novak’s season best I’ve seen in my lifetime!

Speaking ahead of an ATP Champions circuit event in South Florida last week, Pete Sampras heralded Nole's current season as the best he's ever seen.

" At least in my lifetime, the best ever ", Sampras told the Palm Beach Post. He also labeled it "one of the best achievements in all of sports."

Djokovic's mental approach has been the key, the 14-time Grand Slam champion said.

" I always thought Novak was a bit temperamental and would go through these lapses that would prevent him from winning majors ", Sampras said. " And now you look - he lost the first two sets against Roger and boom! He recovered within a couple of minutes. He's got a short memory now. He's progressed into this great champion. "

This year Nole has a 64-3 record and has won 10 titles including three Grand Slam events.

Just nine months ago, everyone was asking how anyone was going to beat Rafael Nadal. Now, witnessing one of the greatest individual seasons in tennis history, the tennis world is asking the same question about Djokovic.

The Serbian star won three of this year's four majors, two in finals against his predecessor Rafael Nadal.

John McEnroe also paid tribute to Nole for winning his third Grand Slam title of the season and putting together what McEnroe calls " the greatest year in the history of our sport ".
" Novak has taken tennis to new heights ", said the American.

Coming from McEnroe, who himself put together a 82-3 record in 1984, it is quite a statement.

" Djokovic is having the greatest year in the history of our sport, there's no doubt about it", he said. "He bewildered Nadal. I've never seen Nadal look as if he doesn't know what to do – and even on clay in Rome Djokovic made him look like that. "

" Wimbledon was where he separated himself and took himself to a whole new level. He beat Nadal six times in one year and, considering the year Nadal had in 2010, that's pretty hard to do. "

" Just as a single season, I think Djokovic's season is the best since Laver in 1969 ", said Patrick McEnroe, the commentator and former USA Davis Cup captain.

Coldplay Call Rihanna Collabo 'Favorite Bit' On Mylo Xyloto

Last week, Coldplay made headlines when they announced they'd be teaming with Rihanna on "Princess of China," one of 14 tracks on their upcoming Mylo Xyloto album.

And while the news may have left some fans a tad, uh, puzzled, Coldplay say the collaboration was born out of a desire to keep reinventing their sound — not to mention necessity — as they told MTV News this past weekend at the Austin City Limits Festival.

"Well, our new record is sort of a story; it's not quite a musical, but it's dangerously close. There's a bit of a love-story thread, so we really needed someone to sing even higher than me," frontman Chris Martin laughed. "[It's] hard, but very possible. You need to be a female really. For all [drummer] Will [Champion]'s good intentions, he [can't do it] ...

"Can't get that high, not these days," Champion added.

"... So, in like a dream scenario, we had a song that I'd secretly kind of written to see if Rihanna would want to sing it," Martin continued. "And then the rest of the band wanted to keep it, so we came up with the idea of asking her to sing it with us, and, to our great surprise, she said OK."
And as is the case with pretty much everything on Xyloto (due October 25), "Princess of China" finds the band expanding their sonic palette and pushing musical boundaries ... which, they'll have you know, is exactly the point these days. Because, after more than a decade of albums — and sales of more than 50 million worldwide — they feel they've earned the right to try something new.
"Well, her bit on our record is my favorite bit ... when the song came out, it sort of asked for her to be on it. And I think at this point, we have nothing to lose, and so we've been trying some new things and trying to break down the perceived boundaries between different types of music," Martin explained. "Because from where we're sitting, it seems like you can try and sound any way you like nowadays. You don't have to be in a rock box or a hip-hop box or a pop box, and I think it's fun when you embrace that idea."

Rihanna looks just like Whitney Houston

THERE was nothing tongue-in-cheek about Rihanna's latest live performance, where she looked like a 1980s version of Whitney Houston.

At a recent concert in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the popular RnB singer sported a barnet Whitney Houston favoured in the mid-eighties.

But most eye-catching, as ever, was her choice of racy attire.

Rihanna opted for a leotard-style number, flashing plenty of cleavage to boot as she nailed an impressive array of moves, reports The Sun.

Rihanna Lends Voice to Coldplay Album

Rihanna has guested on hits for hip-hop’s biggest stars including Eminem, Jay-Z, and Kanye West, and now the pop starlet is set to rock with Coldplay.

The 23-year-old singer duets with frontman Chris Martin on “Princess of China,” one of the tracks off the band’s new album Mylo Xyloto.

Martin said he was nervous about approaching RiRi for the collaboration. “The album is designed as a whole piece. It has boy and girl lead characters and top of our list for the girl part was Rihanna… but it took a while to pluck up the courage to ask her,” he told The Sun.

They met at Coldplay’s New Year’s show with Jay-Z in Las Vegas in January. “We did a show in Las Vegas and I met her and said, ‘Do you think there’s any chance?’ I was very Hugh Grant-like and spluttering about it.
“She has such an amazing voice and it’s so different to mine. When the vocal happened I thought, ‘Wow, you sound different,’ but I think that’s also because she was singing a different song to what we are used to hearing from her and it is written by a bloke from Devon.”

Coldplay’s fifth album Mylo Xyloto is due October 24.

Rihanna Wears Offensive Necklace

Rihanna may be known as a fashion maverick, but one thing that is sure not to catch on are offensive necklaces.

According to Hollywood Life, Rihanna was seen dressed down (and without red hair) and wearing a necklace that said “c*nt”, or, as writer Katrina spells out the word, “see you next Tuesday,” which is a much better way of talking about that word.

The article states that the singer wore the necklace for the first time in March. The writer feels that Rihanna should stop wearing things that have bad messages. Katrina writes:

“The star has so much going for her: she’s talented, gorgeous, and fashion-forward–so why wear something so offensive? It’s one thing if you’re dressing up on stage in a costume, but this vulgarity is just disgusting. I think it’s way too over-the-top and very unnecessary–there’s nothing cool or tough about it.”
As a woman myself, I’m not very fond of using the C-word to describe oneself, even if it’s in some type of “taking ownership of the word” way. I don’t know the reasons behind Rihanna wearing this necklace, but maybe she should keep it hidden.

Rihanna Gets Bare For Armani Spread!

A newly blonde Rihanna is looking super sexy and semi-naked in her new series of ads for Armani Jeans and Armani Underwear's fashion campaign.

The 23 year old Barbadian singer, who has never been shy about showing some skin, stripped down to her bra and panties for the Armani Underwear ad and boy did she look sensational!

The racy ads show the starlet in various lingerie sets from the brand, lounging in the back of a car. With a seductive stare and plenty of cleavage on show, she seemed in her element posing, and showing off her tattoos. She also posed outside the car, lying across the bonnet of the car in jeans and an open jacket over her lingerie.
It isn't the provocative poses that has been causing tongues to wag though, it's Rihanna's new blonde hair do! The pop singer has gone for a very short platinum blonde hairstyle, which some critics have described as 'boyish'. The tousled style features a fringe which sits just above RiRi's brows, and is certainly a change for her usual longer style!

Rihanna was announced as the global new face of Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans back in July. She is the latest to join the list of stars including David and Victoria Beckham and Megan Fox posed in the Italian label's campaigns

Rihanna To Debut New Calvin Harris Single

Reports say Rihanna's will performe her next single, which has been produced by Calvin Harris, later this week.

The 'Cheers' singer has been teasing her new music on Twitter just this weekend, after recently confessing her new album is almost ready.

"No teasin' U waited long enough..." RiRI posted, which is a line from the lyrics of 'Skin', a song on her 'Loud' album.

It's been reported that fans will get hear Rihanna's new single, which has been produced by 'Feel So Close' star Calvin Harris, this Friday as she performs it at the Rock In Rio concert in Brazil.
As well as hooking up with Calvin for the new song, he'll be supporting her on the UK leg of her 'Loud' tour later this year.

Rihanna courts controversy again by wearing C-word necklace

She is known for her risque behavior and onstage racy antics.

But Rhianna took things to another level last night, as she stepped out wearing a necklace spelling out possibly the most offensive word in the English language.

The 23-year-old star's C-word accessory - which she wore brazenly in public - will surely not go down well with the parents of her army of young fans who look up in veneration to the RnB songstress.
Profane: Rhianna took things to another level last night, as she stepped out wearing a necklace with the C-word emblazoned across the front
The S&M star was spotted wearing the offensive jewellery item as she left the Giorgio Baldi in Beverly Hills and headed to a nearby Studio.

The Bajan star was dressed down for the outing, slipping her curves in a pair of casual jeans, a t-shirt and hoodie, and going make-up free for the outing.

And it appears that she left the salon with her hair in a natural style, emerging with her tresses in tumbling curls.

Rhianna is now known for her sexually overt performances and her racy video clips.

The video clip for her hit S&M, features plenty of latex, blow-up dolls and bondage style ropes and mouth gags.

Back in June, the singer shocked when she performed a raunchy and overtly sexualised lap dance on a female fan that was brought onto the stage during a tour stop at Miami's Mariner Arena.

Wearing a revealing white bondage leotard, the S&M songstress aggressively pushed the woman back before straddling her and thrusting her body over the bemused woman.

Two shirtless men brought the woman on stage and placed her on the edge of a round platform.

Rihanna then aggressively opened up one of the women's legs with her hand and then roughly pushes the other leg open with her knee.

Rihanna's Jewelry Deemed Offensive

Rihanna was recently spotted wearing a piece of offensive jewelry. The Umbrella singer shocked fans when she donned a necklace with the "C" word engraved on it.

Rihanna was eyed having dinner in Santa Monica on Thursday looking cute and casual. The singer looked relaxed, wearing a black t-shirt, hoodie, and minimal make up. However, her choice of accessories wasn't so cute.

File:Rihanna AMA 2009 Red carpet.jpgMany were disgusted when they saw photos of the Rude Boy songbird's jewelry. Plain as day on her necklace was the c-word. Why would RiRi send such a message?

That word is often used in a very derogatory way toward women. The fact that Rihanna is using it as a fashion statement is disturbing. Many women look up to the singer as a role model considering all the public battles she's faced. (Most famously being abused by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.)
Rihanna has always been known for making a statement, but this time it seems she has gone way too far by wearing that offensive necklace.

Rihanna x Emporio Armani Underwear Fall 2011 Campaign

The recent addition to the Emporio Armani Underwear models is none other than sexy Barbadian pop star Rihanna. The S&M artist, adorned with a platinum blonde wig, follows up her Fall 2011 Armani Jean campaign with the same classic, film noir feel. The new campaign is shot entirely in black and white, featuring photographer Steven Klein, who also worked on the jean campaign. It can be described as nothing but sexy and sophisticated.

Using inspiration from the shoot location of New York City, a black Lincoln Continental car proves to be the perfect place for Rihanna to show off the new collection. A little demin design is thrown in, only making the already sexy scenes steamier.
Considering Rihanna’s recent rising success to ultimate stardom, Armani could not have chosen a better time to display the sultry Caribbean artist. The collection will be available Fall 2011.

Superb Nole tops Nadal, wins first US Open title!!!

Impressive Novak is the new US Open champion!

Amazing season continues…magnificent performance for tenth title in 2011 and 28th career trophy!

In a remarkable Monday for Novak Djokovic, the top-seeded Serb lifted his first US Open trophy at third attempt after defeating no.2 seed and defending champion Spaniard Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-1 in 4 hours and 10 minutes in the final in New York.

It is the sixth time this year that Djokovic and Nadal have played the championship match, and again it was Nole who emerged superior, winning his fourth career Grand Slam.

Nole and Rafa met for the 29th time. They produced astonishing tennis in classic final with epic rallies that brought the fans at the packed stadium to their feet.

Nole walked into Arthur Ashe Stadium wearing a cap adorned with the New York City fire department logo (FDNY), paying tribute to September 11.

In each of the first two sets, Nadal had a 2-0 lead, but Nole came back strong and won both.

In the opening set, Djokovic won six straight games to take it 6-2 in 53 minutes.

Nole found himself down 0-2 again at the start of the second set. He broke back after an epic third game that lasted more than 17 minutes and included eight deuces. The Belgrade native used his sixth break point opportunity and then held to level the result. He broke Nadal’s serve once again and consolidated the break for 4-2 lead. Rafa made a break in the eighth game but Novak kept him under constant pressure with some brilliant returns and won two games in a row to clinch the set 6-4.

The third set was the longest, it lasted 84 minutes. Novak was a break up three times and had a chance to serve out the match at 6-5, but Nadal fought back and secured a tie-breaker. The Spaniard won it 7-3.

Nole regained his composure in the fourth set. He held in the opening game before taking a medical timeout to treat his aching back. After that he broke Nadal twice, in the second and sixth games and served out the set and match 6-1 to lift his maiden US Open trophy.

Nole has closed the gap on Nadal's lead in their head-to-head series, beating the Spaniard in their past six meetings to narrow it to 16-13.

The Serbian star improved to 64-2 on the year and confirmed his status as the world's best player with a stunning victory. He now holds the Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open titles.

" It really sounds unreal. It's an incredible feeling, " Novak said at the ceremony.

" I've had an amazing year and it keeps going. Every time I play Rafa, it's a big challenge. I want to congratulate him on a great tournament again and I wish that we have many more tough matches in the upcoming years. It's an absolute pleasure to be a part of the very few players that have won this trophy throughout history. "

" Obviously I'm disappointed now but Novak's done unbelievable things, so I just want to congratulate him. What he did this year is probably impossible to repeat. " Nadal said. " I tried my best in every moment. These kind of matches are very difficult, it brings your body to the limit. I tried to play crazy but he always makes fantastic comebacks. "

Novak produces astonishing comeback for third shot at title in New York!

Unbelievable comeback two years in a row! Truly outstanding performance!

Novak fought back from two sets down and saved two match points to defeat no.3 seed and five-time US Open champion Roger Federer 6-7(7), 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 7-5 for a place in his third US Open final!

The top-seeded Serbian star will attempt to become the sixth man in the Open Era to win three major titles in the same year after he fought past the Swiss in 3 hours and 51 minutes on Saturday.

As both players held their serve, the opening set went into a tie-breaker. Nole was 3-6 down, but managed to come back and level the result. The Serb saved one more set point, but Federer used his fifth chance and won it 9-7 in 55 minutes.

Djokovic was broken in the third game of the second set. He fought back in the sixth game, but the Swiss broke him once again in the seventh, kept the advantage and took the set 6-4.

Being two sets to love down, Novak knew he needed to change something to get back into the match. He was more aggressive, his returns were much better, his body language showed he believed. The 2011 Australian Open and Wimbledon champion broke Federer’s serve in the second game and held comfortably for 3-0. The 24-year-old closed the set 6-3.
Nole carried his momentum into the fourth set and with two breaks, for 6-2, levelled the match at two sets all.

The decisive fifth set went on serve until the eighth game. Novak double-faulted to hand Federer three break points and the Swiss converted the first for 5-3 and a chance to serve out the match. The Basel native earned two match points, but Nole came back from the brink of defeat like last year. He saved them both and capitalised on the second break point opportunity to stay in the match. The world no.1 overpowered the Swiss once again to grab another break in eleventh game and served out the set and match 7-5 for historic victory!

This is Novak’s 10th win out of 24 matches they played.

It is the first year since 2002 that the 16-time Grand Slam champion has not won a major title.

" It was definitely the biggest win this year," Djokovic said on court immediately following his victory. "One of the biggest wins of my career. "

Novak through to US Open semis after epic battle!

Novak is through to his fifth career US Open semi-finals!

Top-seeded Novak Djokovic came through his toughest test so far at Flushing Meadows on Thursday, winning his quarter-final match against fellow Serbian and world no.20 Janko Tipsarevic.

Novak was leading 7-6(2), 6-7(3), 6-0, 3-0 when Janko decided to retire due to injury after 3 hours and 27 minutes.

In the most dramatic match so far at the last Grand Slam of the season, the world no.1 clinched his 62nd victory in 2011 and is only one step from defending 1200 points he won last year by reaching the finals.

The first two sets were long and brilliant. It really was a titanic battle with great points, beautiful and breathtaking tennis.

The opening set at the world’s largest tennis stadium lasted 1 hour and 24 minutes. Confident Janko started better, breaking Novak in the very first game. He had another break point in the third game, but Nole managed to save it with a blistering ace. Djokovic capitalised on his second break point in the fourth game with a stunning forehand down the line and leveled the result. One more break in the sixth game and a hold for 5-2 lead, but Janko fought back, broke Novak’s serve twice to go 6-5 ahead. The 2001 Australian Open junior champion was serving for the set when Nole put the pressure on him and broke back to lead the set into a tie-breaker. The 24-year-old Belgrade native won it 7-2.

Tipsarevic put the disappointment of the lost set behind him and opened the second set with a commanding service game. Novak started the second set like the first. He double-faulted to hand Janko three break points. Janko used his chance, made an early break and held to increase his lead to 3-0. He again had opportunities to expand the lead, but failed to convert two break points in the fourth game. Nole came back, breaking Janko's serve in the fifth game and holding for 3-3. The set was also decided in a tie-breaker. This time Tipsarevic claimed it, 7-3, and leveled the match at one set all.

Nole was dominant in the third set. He stepped up his game and raced to 6-0 with a triple break.

Janko was struggling with his movement and could no longer carry on. He retired being 0-3 down in the fourth set.
