Smith finds offense, but his play at other end receives praise and Richard Jefferson helps LeBron James: Fedor's five observations<br />
<h4 style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Sage veteran James Jones summed up Game 3 of the NBA Finals perfectly after the Cleveland Cavaliers 120-90 blowout win against the Golden State Warriors.</h4>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
"We found us," he said.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
The Cavs had one of their best offensive showings of the postseason, scoring 120 points and shooting 48-of-91 (52.7 percent), including 12-of-25 (48 percent) from 3-point range Wednesday night against a defense that seemingly had them flummoxed and searching for answers in the first two games of the series.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
But it's how they did it that mattered most.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
"I thought we were aggressive offensively, attacking the basket, getting out in transition, running the floor," Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue said following the game. "We talked about it before, that opens up shots for J.R. Smith and those guys in transition. So that's how we have to play."</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a>The Cavs beat the Warriors at their own game, racing up and down the court, getting easy baskets before the opposing defense could get set, and snapping the ball around in search of quality offensive looks.<br />
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
They also increased the intensity on the defensive end, holding the high-powered Warriors to their lowest point total of the postseason.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=5220575262303933999" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"></a><a href="https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=5220575262303933999" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"></a>Here are five observations:</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
<strong>Missing MVP –</strong> The Cavaliers have made Stephen Curry uncomfortable in the NBA Finals. They are going to play the percentages, even if it means leaving other players open. Curry is the target.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
The Cavs are crowding him when he has a live dribble and taking away his space. When he's off the ball, he's getting grabbed, bumped and pushed, with the Cavs using physicality to frustrate him. It's what legend Oscar Robertson suggested this year when taking a veiled shot at the two-time MVP.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
"They were playing aggressive defense and they came out with a big punch," Curry said. "I didn't do anything about it or play my game, and for me to do what I need to do to help my team, I have to play a hundred times better than that, especially in the first quarter, to kind of control the game, and I didn't do it."</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
The Cavs' defense had plenty to do with Curry's struggles, but their offense was a big part of the equation as well.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
Criticized for his defense, the Cavs went right at Curry. Kyrie Irving, who scored 30 points and dished out eight assists, blew by Curry at times. Smith shook free off the ball, making Curry pay for any minor slip-up. For the second straight game, the Cavs' approach and the Warriors' willingness to switch on defense, got Curry in early foul trouble, something that also affected his rhythm.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
They have made a conscious effort to wear him down and do anything possible to keep him from igniting, even if it means swatting a dunk attempt after the whistle.</div>
<div class="embed-container-16x9" style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; height: 0px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin: 0px; max-width: 620px; padding: 30px 0px 348.75px; position: relative;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/oUmkorc5IZ0" style="height: 378.75px; left: 0px; position: absolute; top: 0px; width: 620px;" width="560"></iframe></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
"Well, when you have the greatest shooter in the world trying to get an easy one or trying to get in rhythm, it's our job to try to keep him out," James said. "No matter if it's after the whistle or not. That was just my mindset. Anytime, if you're a great player and you see the ball go in, no matter if it's after the play or during the play, then you start feeling it. Not that you feel good because you know what you're capable of, but it helps. So I didn't want him to see the ball go in, even though he still made some."</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
Curry finished with 19 points on 6-of-13 from the field, including 3-of-9 from the beyond the arc. He had just three assists against six turnovers. His first points came at the 4:05 mark of the second quarter. </div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
The last time Curry was held under 20 points in three straight games was last season, a stretch that started on March 16, 2015.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
In three games, Curry is averaging 16.0 points on 43.6 percent from the field, including 40 percent from long distance. Most telling, he's averaging more turnovers per game (5.0) than assists (4.3).</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
<strong style="letter-spacing: 0.208px;">Smothering Klay –</strong><span style="letter-spacing: 0.208px;"> </span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.208px;">The other Splash Brother, Klay Thompson, hasn't fared much better in the NBA Finals, a carryover from last year.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
While he struggled against the DeMar DeRozan in the previous round, Smith deserves credit for hounding Thompson and sticking with him while Golden State runs Thompson through a series of screens.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
"Never relaxing because they're constantly moving," Lue said of the approach. "And the players have done a great job of doing that. Some other guys have been open because of that, but I thought our team has done a great job of just being aware where Steph and Klay are, and also never relaxing."</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
Thompson scored just 10 points on 4-of-13 (30.7) from the field, including 1-of-7 (14.2 percent) from 3-point range. It's the third straight game for Thompson being held under 20 points. His first points came at 6:34 of the second quarter.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
On a night where Smith rebounded from two poor offensive games, it was his defense that had the Cavs talking.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
"All year long that's what he's been doing," James said. "The offense comes very free to him and very easy, but the defensive side is what's making him so great. The contribution that we got from him from the scoring was all predicated on what he did defensively, you know, and he got in great rhythm. He hit some huge shots for us tonight, obviously, but I think it all started on the defensive end where he was much better than he was offensively."</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
Smith's athleticism allowed him to chase Kyle Korver around in the Atlanta series, keeping the sharpshooter from getting free looks at the basket. The Hawks grew frustrated and brought Korver off the bench. Of course, Golden State won't be doing the same, but Smith has been having the same kind of success as the primary defender against Thompson.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
In nine Finals games, Thompson is averaging 14.5 points on 50-of-126 (39.6 percent), including 18-of-60 (30 percent) from beyond the arc.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
Smith has been at the center of Thompson's troubles.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
"I mean, me and Steph haven't really shot the ball as well as we want to," Thompson said. "That's all right. We're still up 2-1, and law of averages, it will all even out. Just got to keep the confidence high."</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
<strong style="letter-spacing: 0.208px;">Smith gets going –</strong><span style="letter-spacing: 0.208px;"> </span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.208px;">The Cavs swingman denied having any mental hurdle to clear after his Finals got off to another horrid start. After scoring eight points, taking nine shots and making two triples in the two games at Oracle Arena, Smith said all he had to do was make a few shots.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
That's what he did on Wednesday night, pouring in 20 points on 7-of-13 from the field, including 5-of-10 from beyond the arc.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
"It means a lot," Lue said when asked about Smith's impact from 3-point range. "When he's making those threes and making those shots, it really opens up the paint for LeBron and Kyrie and Kevin and those guys to have space around the rim. If we play fast and play with a pace, he can get out in transition and get those threes, because when LeBron's driving the basketball, two or three guys have to stop him or he's going to get a layup. If not, if they do help, they'll be kicking out to J.R. for shots. Same for Kyrie. When he's in transition, guys have to load up to him and J.R.'s going to be open for shots, so that's what we did tonight."</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
The Cavs couldn't play fast in Oakland because they couldn't stop the Warriors' offense. That changed in Game 3. It also allowed Smith to keep from getting smothered in the halfcourt while trying to operate against the Warriors' stingy defense.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
The Warriors knew it was coming, they knew the Cavs would try to get Smith involved early. They couldn't stop it.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
It's not a coincidence that the first offensive play of the game was a screen to get Smith an open look from distance. He missed. But it allowed him to get engaged early. It was the Cavs way trying to get their sniper going.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
"It really doesn't do much for my confidence, honestly," Smith said. "I let that side of my brain turn off. I mean, I look at it, it's a great opportunity to start the game off, but I know how I want to dictate the game, and that's on the defensive end and trying to stop Klay as much as I can. Try not to let him catch the ball. Make it tough for him as much as I can, and let that dictate my offense. Let that dictate my offensive transition, get open shots, play from there."</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
Perhaps Smith didn't feel like he needed Wednesday from an offensive standpoint. But it's the first time he has scored at least 20 points in the NBA Finals and his 3-point barrage helped the Cavs win the battle from beyond the arc, 12-9.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
"Well, since 1 and 2, my teammates have been talking to me, stay aggressive, be aggressive," Smith said. "When you get the ball, take your shot. If you don't have it, give it up. But for the most part everybody's been supportive. Since we landed the other day, it was pretty much like a clean slate. Get back in the gym. Get back to our routines. Drive the same route I go to the gym every day, and just get back on our home floor and play the right way."</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.208px;">"I just think he gave us speed," Lue said. "I thought he gave us the physicality on Harrison Barnes, and that we were able to slide LeBron over to Draymond Green, which helped us out a lot. We were able to switch pick-and-rolls and things like that. So just being able to get up the floor offensively, pushing the ball, pushing the tempo, and R.J.'s aggressiveness on the defensive end."</span><strong>Richard Jefferson's spark –</strong>With Kevin Love sidelined because of a concussion, Jefferson got the start. Lue liked what he saw.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
Jefferson scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds. He gave the Cavs another threat to attack the basket off the bounce. While his numbers don't stand out, Lue hit on the key point of the move. It moved James to the 4 where he was matched up with Green for most of the night.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
Green is the Warriors' heartbeat and James didn't let him get ticking early.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
It was a lot to ask, of course, but James' defensive presence took away one of the Warriors' pet sets, the 1-4 pick-and-roll, as James was able to switch onto Curry when needed or contain Green.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
Suddenly, some of those open looks that Green received en route to a 28-point scoring outburst in Game 2 were contested shots thanks to the speed and athleticism of James. Some of those easy passes to the cutters were thwarted.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
Green was held to six points on 2-of-8 shooting to go with seven rebounds, seven assists and two turnovers. Call it the LeBron effect. It's a much better match up for the Cavs on defense.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
Lue's manuever also allowed James to operate from the low post more.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
"I just wanted to play a little bit inside and outside," James said. "I started off the game going in the interior and just trying to fan out their defense a little bit. We did a great job of spacing out with R.J., with Ky, and also with Swish, so it gave me a little bit more room to work down in the post.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
"I missed a ton of chippies, but I was loving the space that I was getting and my teammates created for me. So just kind of following the game plan. It's something that we wanted to do tonight and were able to execute it."</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
James seems to play with a different tenacity at that spot. It should continue, even if Love gets cleared in time for Friday night.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
<strong>Slow starts –</strong> The Warriors opened the first quarter with a traditional lineup, attempting to play Andrew Bogut even though the Cavs downsized. It backfired. By the time Bogut exited the game, the Warriors were trailing, 21-8.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
After Golden State rallied, cutting the halftime deficit to just eight, Steve Kerr, for some reason, started the third quarter with Bogut again. The lineup produced similar results.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
"You mean, like take Bogut out of the lineup," Kerr asked when questioned about his decision to not lean on the smaller lineup that helped the Warriors rally in the first half. "Not really. We thought Boges played well. Boges has done a good job for us in the series. We didn't feel like we had to match what they were doing because of their change in their starting lineup. We can always make a quick substitution. So I don't think that had anything to do with losing the game. It wasn't lineups. It wasn't substitution patterns. We just got our tail kicked."</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
He has a point, but with Bogut on the court, the Warriors were outscored, 11-3, to open the third. It was a strategic error. All of their hard work, cutting the lead to single digits, was erased in four minutes as the Cavs pushed the lead back to 16.</div>
<br />
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Benton Sans", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.208px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.067em;">
At that point, it seemed like game over. Starting slow doomed the Warriors. </div>
<br />

Italian Football Federation (FIGC) president Carlo Tavecchio led head coach Antonio Conte and his team onto the awaiting bus for the short trip to Italy's UEFA EURO 2016 base, located in the heart of the vibrant Languedoc-Roussillon city.<br />
<br />
<br />
Earlier, Italy's players congregated at Milan's Malpensa airport after spending time with their families and friends following Monday's 2-0 victory over Finland in Verona. The Italy squad's attention is now firmly on their opening fixture against Belgium in Lyon on Monday.</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<br />
<br />
A first training session will take place on Thursday morning at 10:30 local time. After that, Casa Azzurri and the media centre will be formally opened, with Conte holding a press conference.<br />
<br />
Given how early Italy arrived on Wednesday, though, one can expect those times to change with Italy keen to get their pursuit of glory going sooner rather than later.<i>(http://www.uefa.com/)</i><br />

The about-face by one of the world's most powerful companies
showed the extraordinary influence of the 25-year-old Swift, who had
vowed a partial boycott of the new Apple Music service.</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="area">
Swift,
saying that she was speaking up for artists afraid of upsetting Apple,
had called the company's behavior "shocking" over its earlier plan not
to pay for streams during customers' initial three-month free trial.<br />

<br />
Eddy
Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Internet software and services,
said late Sunday that the company had shifted course and would
compensate for streams in all stages.<br />
Apple music "will pay artist(s) for streaming, even during (customers') free trial period," he wrote on Twitter.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Mimicking Swift's earlier protest, Cue wrote, "We love you (Taylor) and indie artists. Love, Apple."<br />
Cue
separately told industry journal Billboard that he telephoned Swift,
who is in Amsterdam on her tour, after receiving approval from Apple CEO
Tim Cook.<br />
He insisted that Apple never intended to avoid
compensation and had heard plenty of concern from others besides Swift,
although he was moved to action after she went public.<br />
Apple,
which revolutionized the music industry through digital downloads with
iTunes, on June 30 launches its new streaming platform as customers
quickly shift to such on-demand, unlimited Internet catalogs.<br />
Swift
has been an outspoken critic of streaming leader Spotify, last year
pulling her entire catalog as she charged that the Swedish company
compensates artists too little.<br />
Swift early Sunday said that she
would refuse to allow her latest album "1989" - by far the best-selling
US album in the past year - to stream on Apple Music due to the lack of
payment during the trial.<br />
"I find it to be shocking, disappointing
and completely unlike this historically progressive and generous
company," Swift wrote in a posting on Tumblr.<br />
"These are not the
complaints of a spoiled, petulant child. These are the echoed sentiments
of every artist, writer and producer in my social circles who are
afraid to speak up publicly because we admire and respect Apple so
much," Swift wrote.<br />
Swift said that her move was in part "about
the young songwriter who just got his or her first cut and thought that
the royalties from that would get them out of debt."<br />
After Apple's
reversal, Swift wrote on Twitter: "I am elated and relieved. Thank you
for your words of support today. They listened to us."<br />
Apple has
not gone public with details on the payout structure, but is known to
have been involved in intense negotiations with major record labels.<br />
Prosecutors
in New York and the neighboring state of Connecticut have started an
initial probe on whether major labels are colluding with Apple to stop
licensing content to rivals.<br />
Swift, a young country star turned
pop sensation, is signed to an independent label, Big Machine Records,
allowing her greater leeway in determining her marketing.<br />
Spotify
has been especially controversial with artists as it offers a free tier,
even beyond a trial period, for customers who are not bothered by
advertisements.<br />
Spotify says that it nonetheless pays back artists
and has given out $3 billion in royalties since the Swedish company's
launch in 2008.<br />
Apple plans to charge $9.99 a month after the three-month trial.<br />
Other
rivals in streaming include Deezer, Rhapsody, Rdio, Google Play and
Tidal, which is spearheaded by rap mogul Jay-Z with a professed mission
to support artists.</div>

<img alt="https://tctechcrunch2011.files.wordpress.com/2015/03/p1030864.jpg?w=738" height="300" src="https://tctechcrunch2011.files.wordpress.com/2015/03/p1030864.jpg?w=738" width="400" /></div>
<br />
So much for terse denials. Former world number one mobile maker Nokia, which sold its
device making unit to Microsoft last year, is indeed intending to get
back into the mobile game next year — when a Microsoft contract
clause that currently prevents it from putting its brand name on
handsets lapses.<br />
Nokia CEO Rajeev Suri told Germany’s Manager Magazin the company
intends to design and license handsets next year, and will “look for
suitable partners” (via Reuters). “We would simply design them and then make the brand name available to license,” he added.<br />
This is not in the least surprising. Even as it looks to slough off its Here maps business, Nokia has been keeping its hand in the mobile business, designing and selling an Android tablet in China, and launching its own Android launcher last summer.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Meanwhile Microsoft looks to be retreating from smartphones — or rather phone buyers continue to retreat from its Windows-powered Lumias.
Former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, who had been heading up
Microsoft’s devices division — after being reabsorbed by Redmond last
year, as part of the Nokia handset purchase — was this week shown the door.<br />
How the tech pendulum swings.<br />
It’s worth reiterating that any Nokia-branded phones that will appear
from 2016 will not actually be made by Nokia. It’s a far smaller
company than it was, prior to the Windows Phone years. But the Nokia
brand still holds plenty of cachet in various markets — in both Europe
and beyond — so Suri is clearly hoping to capitalize on that brand
visibility to power a new Nokia mobile push.<br />
<div>
</div>
Was he timing his confirmation of Nokia-branded mobiles in 2016 to
coincide with Microsoft hanging up on Elop? We can but speculate…<br />
Nokia has not confirmed what OS(es) might power any future
Nokia-branded phones, but it’s a pretty safe bet it’s going to be
Android. Nokia’s N1 tablet (pictured at the top of this post) runs
Android, and its Z Launcher is designed for Android, so Android is the
platform it’s been preoccupied with of late. Google’s mobile OS is also
where the mobile volume is, although the space has also never been more
competitive. Just ask HTC.<br />
Nokia-branded Android phones would be lining up to compete with
megabrands like Samsung with huge marketing budgets and the resources to
flood the market with handsets at every price point, and fast-paced
upstarts like China’s Xiaomi, which uses various manufacturing and
business model strategies to squeeze the end-user price-tag — competing
on affordability plus quality. Add to that, the challenge
of differentiating on Android continues to cause headaches for OEMs.
Hence HTC trying quirky.<br />
Still, ultimately, given this will be a licensing business it’s
Nokia’s partners — should it secure any (and presumably it has some
lined up or Suri wouldn’t be making any public pronouncements) — who
will be the ones paying it to compete.<br />
<br />
Foxconn is presumably a likely candidate, given the pair are already
working together on the N1. I for one would wager that a Nokia-branded
Android phone — of a similar minimalist, Apple-esque hardware calibre as
Foxconn served up for the N1 — would sell like hotcakes in Europe. And
outsell sales of Windows-powered Lumias without breaking a sweat.bj infohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16640360379022776704noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5220575262303933999.post-71385741706525909872015-06-22T02:17:00.000-07:002015-06-22T02:17:01.427-07:00Classy Denise Richards responds to ex Charlie Sheen's erratic Father's Day Twitter rant after he brands her a 'washed up piglet shame pile'<h4>

I decided to study up on agate genesis and what rock types they form in so I could go to Sumatra and track down these beauties.</div>
<div align="justify">
After a review of studies and theories from the USA,
Germany, Russia and the good old internet, it became clear the genesis
of agates is complicated! The important components are geological
formations consisting of rock types in which voids occur and warm,
volcano related, silica saturated waters are present to migrate thru the
pores and cracks to fill the void. Voids are commonly known to occur in
gaseous volcanic rocks (basalts) or solution cavities in calcareous
rocks (limestone). That does not mean there are not a myriad of other
source rocks..there are!</div>
<div align="justify">
The origins of these rocks can be terrestrial or
submarine. That didn’t help much in narrowing my search so I left the
geological maps behind and struck out to hunt down the perfect agate.</div>
<div align="justify">
Sumatra is the 6th largest island on earth, 1690km
long and 400km wide. There are 37 volcanoes considered recent and most
are intermittently active. These young volcanoes are scattered from the
far north end to southern tip along the Bukit Barisan Mountain range.
In addition, the island has a long history of volcanism. Volcanic rocks,
intercalated with marine reefal limestone and other sediments date all
the way back into the late Jurassic (about 145mya).</div>
<div align="justify">
<br /></div>
<div align="center" class="image">
<img alt="" class="style1" src="http://www.indoagate.com/Images/Agate/Sumatra.jpg" height="" width="" /></div>
<br />
<br />
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="justify">
By these associations, I conclude that these agates
were likely formed in solution cavities in calcareous marine sediments
which were exposed to warm silica saturated (hydrothermal) volcanic
waters.</div>
<div align="justify">
The colors of the bands in these agates vary widely.
Coloration of agates is caused by metallic ions which are introduced
with the influx of amorphous silica. These elements join together,
forming bands and fortifications of micro or crypto crystalline layers
which plate out on the walls of the cavity. The banding and coloration
depends on the solution chemistry, temperature, pressure, and oxidation
state. The hydrothermal fluids travelling thru the pores and cracks in
the surrounding rock formations can leach metallic ions and other
elements and deposit them in the voids and cavities creating an agate.</div>
<div align="justify">
Iron alone can cause purple, blue, yellow, orange or
red bands. Nickel, vanadium or chromium inclusions show as shades of
green. Manganese can exhibit pink, violet or black and copper can be
red, blue or green. Combinations of minerals effect color as does
temperature, pressure and radiation.</div>
<div align="justify">
A complex fortification agate is likely formed over a
great length of geological time experiencing a great variety of
conditions.</div>
<br />
<div align="justify">
There are no two agates exactly alike. Each one is a unique creation of nature! Enjoy Photos #9 thru #20 below: </div>

<br />
Emma Stone is a mere 26 years old, but in the last cinematic year, she’s
had four onscreen love-interests who were over 40, including two male
characters who were impotent. Jennifer Lawrence is Hollywood’s most
in-demand young actress, but ever since she won her Oscar, it’s hard for
her to find a screen lover who isn’t approaching middle age. And
Scarlett Johansson has been paired with older actors so often that when
she romanced Mark Ruffalo in this summer’s <i>Avengers: Age of Ultron</i>, their 17-year age difference was the <i>least</i>
nitpicked aspect of their union. These three young, smoky-voiced
actresses are often referred to as wise beyond their years, and in 2015,
they’ve all got the graying love-interests to match that perception. It
isn’t news that Hollywood likes to pair its older men with younger women,
but as these charts will show, there’s surely something unusual going
on when the three hottest actresses in the 30-and-under bracket are
routinely steered toward men of a certain age.bj infohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16640360379022776704noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5220575262303933999.post-12188218575438885682015-06-09T03:02:00.000-07:002015-06-09T03:02:01.438-07:00Lightning's third line making life tough for Blackhawks<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
CHICAGO -- Had you told Cedric Paquette
back in training camp that he would score two goals in the opening
three games of the Stanley Cup finals nine months later, the Tampa Bay Lightning rookie definitely wouldn't have believed it.<br />
"I
would have said that he’s crazy," Paquette said in French on Monday
night after scoring the game-winner. "I really couldn’t have predicted
that."<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
How could he, since he didn’t even make the team out of camp, beginning the season in the AHL.<br />
Paquette’s goal with 3 minutes, 11 seconds to go in the third period capped a thrilling 3-2 win in Game 3 over the Chicago Blackhawks, giving the young Bolts a 2-1 series lead over the favored vets.<br />
"It’s
as if I’m not feeling a thing right now, it’s incredible the emotions
since the beginning of the season," Paquette said. "Going down [to the
AHL] and being recalled, since then I’ve matured. And even when things
weren’t going as well at the start of the playoffs I just kept my game
simple and I think I’m being rewarded since the start of the finals."<br />
The
hero on this night is making quite a name for himself on the biggest
stage of his life. One in a long line of Tampa Bay draft picks coming
through the system, the 21-year-old from Gaspe, Quebec, was a
fourth-round pick (101st overall) in the 2012 draft.<br />
"He kind of
flies under the radar with this group we have in here with the amount of
talent that we have, but all year he's been huge for us defensively,"
said linemate Ryan Callahan,
who played another outstanding game and scored the first goal of the
game. "He's chipped in and he's kind of come out a bit here in this
series. I think everybody is starting to realize what we've known all
along, how good he is."<br />
Centering the team’s third line between Callahan and J.T. Brown, Paquette has been the most surprising story so far in this championship series.<br />
"I can't say enough, honestly," Lightning defenseman Anton Stralman
said. "He's been stepping up these three games. I don't think anybody
saw that coming and it's really fun to watch. We knew he was a big
player for us, really solid defensively and going up against the best
centerman in the league and doing that job unbelievably well. It's
really fun to see."<br />
After facing Toews’ top line in the opening
two games, Paquette didn’t get as much of the Blackhawks captain in Game
3 because Chicago used its last line change to get him away from
Paquette at times.<br />
<aside class="inline inline-photo float-l"><br />
<figure><picture><img class=" lazyloaded imageLoaded " data-image-container=".inline-photo" /></picture></figure><figure><figcaption class="photoCaption">Imagine that, the Hawks trying to get Toews away from Paquette. Who saw that coming?</figcaption></figure></aside>"I
remember when they won the Cup in 2010, I followed that really closely
and I thought he was really dominating," Paquette said of Toews. "To
play against him and have a defensive role against him, it’s a lot of
fun. It’s fun to get people talking about me a little and playing
against him is a good challenge."<br />
Paquette’s linemates, Callahan
and Brown, have been tremendous, too. Suddenly after their top two lines
did all the scoring for the first three rounds of the playoffs, Tampa
finally -- finally! -- is getting bottom-six production.<br />
"We
wanted to get on the score sheet, that was a key for us in these Stanley
Cup finals," said Brown, whose game has grown in these playoffs. "We’ve
let the top guys do their jobs but we wanted to also chip in. I think
we’ve been a lot better at that."<br />
And there’s Callahan, the former New York Rangers captain whose lack of production in the first couple of rounds led to some criticism.<br />
He
came alive in the second half of the Eastern Conference finals versus
the Rangers and has stepped it up another notch in the past few games of
the Cup finals.<br />
"Well, he's a gamer," Lightning head coach Jon
Cooper said. "That's the word. He's a gamer. I'm sure he's been
frustrated. But we had a talk a couple games ago, after Game 1. ... They
need help. I'm not just speaking [about] Callahan, it's Brown and
Paquette, [Brian] Boyle, [Jonathan] Drouin, guys that get not as many
minutes but have big-time assignments."<br />
"But we need them to chip
in a little bit. Callahan led the charge. I can't say enough about that
kid. No secret why he was captain of the New York Rangers. You need guys
that can play the 200 feet and make sacrifices for the team. When
things aren't going well personally or statistically, they find a way."<br />
Callahan
has had to adjust to a new role, too. After playing the entire season
on the Stamkos line, Callahan was demoted to a third-line role in Game 5
against the Montreal Canadiens in the second round and has stayed there ever since.<br />
"You
continue to play your game no matter what line you're on," said
Callahan, whose first-period slap shot was an absolute rocket past Corey Crawford.
"There's no question I struggled to produce a little early in these
playoffs and I understand the switch, trying to get things going. I'm
willing to do whatever I can to help this team win. Whether it's the
first line or fourth line or any line in between, I've gotta play my
game. That's the only way I'm successful."<br />
Paquette knows he has to play his game, too, which means he’s not going to let the sudden goal-scoring get to his head.<br />
There he was late in the game Monday night with a key blocked shot to help preserve the win.<br />
"Obviously
scoring the winning goal is really special, every hockey player dreams
of that and it’s the same for me," said Paquette, who had 12 goals in 64
regular-season games. "But blocking shots is my job. Even though I
score a goal, I’m not going to change my role on this team. I’m not
going to score 50 goals next year. I’m still there to block shots late
in games."<br />
Look out folks, the young Lightning suddenly have three
lines scoring for the first time in these playoffs. The task just got
taller for the Blackhawks.bj infohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16640360379022776704noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5220575262303933999.post-45294934526579253392015-04-19T21:46:00.001-07:002015-04-19T21:46:34.750-07:00Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Another day, another Real Madrid star humiliated in training. This time, Ronaldo really made Marcelo feel silly about his embarrassment - and we know why</h2>
<div>
<div class="tmRow span-15-5 col-1 article-page
p402_hide" id="row2" style="background-color: white; border: 0px; float: left; font-family: 'PT Sans', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13.0012998580933px; line-height: 18.006799697876px; margin: 0px 20px 0px 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; width: 620px;">

<div class="body " itemprop="articleBody" style="border-image-outset: initial; border-image-repeat: initial; border-image-slice: initial; border-image-source: initial; border-image-width: initial; border: 0px; font-family: inherit; font-size: 13.0012998580933px; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px 0px 0.76923077em; vertical-align: baseline;">
<a href="http://media.melty.es/article-2511743-ajust_930-f1375952532/cristiano-y-marcelo-celebran-un-gol.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://media.melty.es/article-2511743-ajust_930-f1375952532/cristiano-y-marcelo-celebran-un-gol.jpg" style="-webkit-user-select: none;" width="254" /></a><div style="border-image-outset: initial; border-image-repeat: initial; border-image-slice: initial; border-image-source: initial; border-image-width: initial; border: 0px; font-family: 'PT Sans', sans-serif; font-size: 1.30769231em; line-height: 1.52941176em; margin-bottom: 0.58823529em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
As a <span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: 17.0016994476318px; font-style: inherit;">Real Madrid</span></span> player, getting to train with some of the world's most skilful footballers every day must be brilliant.</div>
<div style="border-image-outset: initial; border-image-repeat: initial; border-image-slice: initial; border-image-source: initial; border-image-width: initial; border: 0px; font-family: 'PT Sans', sans-serif; font-size: 1.30769231em; line-height: 1.52941176em; margin-bottom: 0.58823529em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Unfortunately, it's also massively dangerous - you are constantly at risk of <span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: 17.0016994476318px; font-style: inherit;">being nutmegged</span></span>. Last week, the cameras at Real Madrid training caught <span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: 17.0016994476318px; font-style: inherit;">Cristiano Ronaldo</span></span>using <span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: 17.0016994476318px; font-style: inherit;">a backheeled nutmeg to make young Marcos Llorente</span></span> feel approximately two feet tall.</div>
<div style="border-image-outset: initial; border-image-repeat: initial; border-image-slice: initial; border-image-source: initial; border-image-width: initial; border: 0px; font-family: 'PT Sans', sans-serif; font-size: 1.30769231em; line-height: 1.52941176em; margin-bottom: 0.58823529em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Now, as you can see above, it's the turn of a more senior member of the squad to suffer the ultimate embarrassment: Marcelo.</div>
<div style="border-image-outset: initial; border-image-repeat: initial; border-image-slice: initial; border-image-source: initial; border-image-width: initial; border: 0px; font-family: 'PT Sans', sans-serif; font-size: 1.30769231em; line-height: 1.52941176em; margin-bottom: 0.58823529em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a>Luka Modric uses a little flick to nutmeg <span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: 17.0016994476318px; font-style: inherit;">the Brazil left-back</span></span>, who turns away in shame as everyone laughs. But Ronaldo doesn't leave it there; he rubs it in by giving Marcelo a kiss on the cheek too.<br />
<div style="border-image-outset: initial; border-image-repeat: initial; border-image-slice: initial; border-image-source: initial; border-image-width: initial; border: 0px; font-family: 'PT Sans', sans-serif; font-size: 1.30769231em; line-height: 1.52941176em; margin-bottom: 0.58823529em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
If that seems harsh, we think we know why Ronnie did it. Just look who led the laughter last week when Llorente was embarrassed. Clearly, Cristiano realised karma had decided it was time to bite Marcelo on the bum…</div>

Ultron takes va<span style="line-height: 18.2000007629395px;">rious Iron Man armours for his body. This is a homage to Tony Stark designing a sentient armor in the comics, which lost its morality and tried to kill Stark. Incidentally, that was Ultron's doing - he'd developed an android named Jocasta, who eventually rebelled against her master and became an Avenger and Tony Stark's mechanical aide, but suffered from being programmed to rebuild Ultron.</span></div>

In the comics, Black Widow was a former ballerina subject to mental conditioning and experimentation. <span style="color: #70579d;">Scarlett Johansson</span> describes this part of her history as critical to her role in the film: "She's realizing she never made an active choice, she's a product of other people's imposition. Tony Stark wants a break from saving the world, having done so at least nine times now. So his focus is more on how can we make it so that there's no problem to begin with. Simon Cowell says: "I would like to say thank you to Zayn for everything he has done for One Direction. Since I first met Zayn in 2010, I have grown very, very fond - and immensely proud - of him. As for One Direction, fans can rest assured that Niall, Liam, Harry and Louis are hugely excited about the future of the band."</div>

Fun is an American alternative rock band based in New York City that
was formed by Nate Ruess, formerly of The Format. After the 2008 breakup
of The Format, Ruess formed Fun with Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff of
Anathallo and Steel Train respectively.Fun has released two albums:
their debut Aim and Ignite in 2009 and their latest Some Nights in
February 2012.</div>

<br />
The band is best known for its hit single "We Are Young" featuring
Janelle Monáe. "We Are Young" reached number one on the U.S. Billboard
Hot 100 and Digital Songs charts, becoming the first alternative song to
top the Billboard Hot 100 chart since Coldplay's "Viva la Vida" in
2008. It also peaked at number one on the UK Singles Chart.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
2007–2008: Career beginning and formation</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Format split in February 2008. Immediately afterward Nate Ruess
asked Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff to join his new project. Dost had
toured with The Format and provided various instrumentation. Ruess met
Antonoff after The Format toured with Steel Train. The three began
working together in New Jersey within a week. Ruess sang melodies while
the other two provided music for them.The first demo song the band
recorded was "Benson Hedges," which was made available for free in
Spin's September 20, 2008 article on the band.Fun approached Steven
McDonald, who produced The Format's album Dog Problems with Ruess, to
produce their debut album. McDonald was enthusiastic about the project
and stated, "I can’t believe what we’re working on here. This crushes
anything I’ve ever done."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
2009–2010: Aim and Ignite</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Recording took place in the fall of 2008. The band's first single, "At
Least I'm Not as Sad (As I Used to Be)" was made available as a free
download on the band's Myspace page on April 6, 2009 Aim and Ignite was
released on August 25, 2009 and had positive reviews. AbsolutePunk.net's
Drew Beringer praised the album, stating it was "what a pop album
'should' sound like" and "the most essential pop album of 2009."
Allmusic called the album "progressive, but in the best possible way"
and admired Ruess's lyrics for "investigating the larger truths of
life...with a witty approach that keeps the songs bubbling merrily along
on a positive note" Dave de Sylvia of Sputnikmusic wrote, "Aim and
Ignite isn’t the most consistent pop album around," but he ultimately
commended the album as "a superbly mixed and arranged album made by
musicians who clearly understand the limits and potential of pop music".
Estella Hung of PopMatters was less impressed with the album. She
praised songs "Be Calm" and "The Gambler", but criticized the lyrics and
production of the album's early tracks. Hung concluded that while Aim
and Ignite is "pretty original to say the least", it "fails to live up
to the Format’s last outing." Popdose's Ken Shane called the album "an
interesting and unusual listen." Shane applauded the album's songwriting
and said "many of the songs are really good," but he objected to the
"cute" production, desiring to hear the band "in a more stripped-down
form." He ended his review with: "I have a similar problem with Dr. Dog,
a band that was recommended to me by a number of people. I think much
of their recorded work is too fussed over, but when I saw them live and
their sound was more stripped down out of necessity, emphasizing their
powerful songwriting, I thought they were wonderful. Perhaps the same
fate awaits me with Fun." The album reached number 26 on Sputnikmusic's
top 50 albums of 2009. The album peaked at 71 on the US album charts.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Fun began its first North American tour on November 8, 2008 with Jack's
Mannequin The debut album Aim and Ignite was released on August 25,
2009. In reviewing the album, The Washington Post called some of the
arrangements "theatrical, much like those on Panic! at the Disco's 2005
debut". In February 2010, Fun supported Jack's Mannequin on their
headline tour, along with Vedera which was followed by their first UK
appearances in March. Their current touring band also includes Will
Noon, Rob Kroehler, Emily Moore, Nate Harold, and Jon "Jonny Thunder"
Goldstein. In April 2010, Fun supported Paramore's headline tour. Other
support for the tour includes Relient K and Harriet Ellis of Summer
Beats. The band then embarked on a full UK tour in May. On August 4,
2010, Fun announced that they had signed with label Fueled by Ramen.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
On August 14, 2010, it was announced via the Official Paramore Fan Club
that Fun would be opening for Paramore on their November UK tour. In
2010 Fun's single, "Walking the Dog," was used in a commercial for the
travel site Expedia.com. In 2010, Will Noon (formerly of Straylight Run)
played drums with Fun on tour, according to Noon's Twitter page.To
celebrate the Paramore UK tour and the band’s new single ‘Walking The
Dog’, Hassle Records gave away a free download of an acoustic version of
the track.[21] On April 27, 2011, a video of the band performing a new
song entitled "Carry On" was uploaded to YouTube.</div>
