Number ones - Rihanna 'Only Girl - In The World'
who is currently the biggest pop star? You’d probably say Lady Gaga or Katy Perry – they’re the ones people parody and cover on YouTube, they’re the names you’d casually drop in conversation, theirs are the songs from the pop charts you’d be most likely to know. But, if you asked the ARIA singles charts, Rihanna would be its answer. Here’s why: 'Only Girl (In The World)' is her third Australian #1 single of 2010. No other singer has had more than one #1 this year. It also debuted at #1 this week, knocking off 'Dynamite' by Taio Cruz. Debuting at #1 is another sign of star power: your standard insidiously catchy song might take a few weeks to seep into the brains of people who buy singles, but this one came with a readymade fan base who bought the song simply because it’s by Rihanna.

Justin Bieber bags kisses off Katy Perry, Rihanna

Rihanna faces £3 million lawsuit
Officials at Unique Sports and Marketing have revealed that they signed a 1.1 million pound deal with a company called Vegas Style Entertainment (VSE) to book Rihanna for three Brazil gigs in November (10).
They gave 550,000-pound advance to secure Rihanna for the concerts. But, VSE apparently has no connection with the singer and it only pocketed the money.
The chiefs at Unique Sports and Marketing filed legal documents in New York and demanded 3,123,300 pound in compensation, reports the Daily Star.
How joining the Glee' club might just save the world
All of this because of a silly, sentimental, soap-operatic and absolutely beautiful Fox TV series called "Glee."
At its best, "Glee" - about teenage misfits who find their identities and common ground through singing - reaffirms the positive role music can play in our lives, no matter who we are or which cheerleader we've been tricked into thinking we knocked up.
At its worst, the series still proves that a fluffy, farcical, scripted TV series can be way better for this world than bottom-feeder reality shows.
"Jersey Shore," I'm talking to you. Not that you read newspapers.

Teens score with Rihanna
The 'Rude Boy' singer was enjoying a meal out with friends in Ago, in West Hollywood when two teenage supporters reportedly asked if they could pose with her.
However, the manager reportedly rushed over and scorned: "Fans are not allowed to bother celebrities, so no pictures, please!"
However, the 22-year-old beauty quickly interrupted the restaurant worker and told him to leave them alone.
She said: "These girls are my fans and without them, I'd be nothing. So I'm happy to pose!"
Who is no. 1
‘Only Girl (In The World) which is officially released this week is already doing well on the Hot 100 at no.75 but sales of around 200,000 digital downloads could push her straight to no.1 or within, at least, the top 5.
If Rihanna pulls off the jump to no.1, "Only Girl (In The World)," will become her sixth solo no.1 single on the Hot 100 following ‘Rude Boy’, ‘Take A Bow’, ‘SOS’, ‘Disturbia’ and ‘Umbrella’.
Katy Perry's ‘Teenage Dream’ remains a top the Hot 100 this week, followed by Eminem's "Love The Way You Lie," ironically featuring Rihanna.
‘Only Girl (In The World)’ leads ‘Loud’, Rihanna's next studio album - one sources say will be more energetic, up tempo and dance heavy than the mostly dark ‘Russian Roulette’ featured ‘Rated R’.
Nothing positive in song detailing domestic abuse
September 20, 2010 - The North American chart-topping hit, Love the Way You Lie, a duet by hip-hop artists Eminem and Rihanna, seems to be everywhere.
The infectious beat can be heard in Saskatoon dance clubs, on commercial radio, in football and hockey dressing rooms around the city, and in the ear-buds of hundreds of local pre-teens and teenagers. The duo received thunderous applause for a live performance at the recent MTV video awards, after the large crowd of excited youth danced and shouted the lyrics.
Eminem and Rihanna are talented vocalists, teamed with the music industry's best producers and a multi-million dollar marketing machine. The problem is that Love the Way You Lie appears to be nothing more than a male domestic abuse fantasy.
In the video, Eminem at first sings about the intense love he feels for his girlfriend, but that soon ends. He punches her and throws her through a window. He repeatedly apologizes, "even though I know it's lies." The abuse escalates before the final verse:

Rihanna Set To beat Rihanna!
After 3 days of release only, there is some music for ears for Rihanna. She is all set to break ground at the Billboard Hot 100 tracks list. The singer, who’s latest one – Only Girl- just got released on Sep 13, is all of 22, and must be on a high after the way in which people have lapped up the track. Analysts predict that by next week, more than two hundred thousand records of her song would be sold, making it aim in the first five of the list. he track comes from an album which is not even released to date, and will not be next few months. And as she aims for the top slot, we know Kate Perry is going to tumble a little down for her Teenage Dream.
Not only will Kate come down if Only Girl follows a upward trajectory, but the current #2- Love The Way by Eminem – will also be pushed down. If you remember, a highlight of this track is Rihanna herself, as she gets to show her moves to Eminem’s voice.
But we guess the singer does not mind, given that she has had the spot of being #1 and 2 for many a times earlier too! (ENSNN)

Rihanna Performance in Northern Cyprus Spurs Controversy
WATERTOWN, Mass. (A.W.)—On Sept. 7 (Sept. 15 according to some sources), singer Rihanna was reportedly scheduled to give a free public concert at the inauguration of the luxury Fashion Castle Hotel in the town of Kyrenia in Turkish-occupied Northern Cyprus. Greek Cypriots and sympathizers began a campaign to prevent her performance there. Days passed since the scheduled day of appearance, and still no word on the event.
Some sources claimed that Rihanna would be joined by singer Justin Timberlake in a free concert that would celebrate the construction of not one, but two hotels in Kyrenia. Rihanna would earn $1 million; and Timberlake $2 million.
However, according to one source, Cyprus Today reported that Justin Timberlake was not going to perform in Northern Cyprus; and the country’s name had been removed from a list of countries Rihanna was scheduled to tour. The Weekly was unable to confirm this information.

Novak saves 2 MPs, downs Federer for second US Open final!
Novak Djokovic saved two match points in a five set thriller to defeated no.2 seed and five-time US Open champion Roger Federer 5-7, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, 7-5 in 3 hours and 44 minutes for a place in his second US Open final!
Djokovic was pushed to deuce in the opening game of the match. The Serb found his rhythm in time to set up a game point with the first ace before going on to hold. Novak earned himself two break points in the second game, but Federer held. The Swiss missed his chance for break in the third game. Nole broke his serve in the sixth game, but Federer broke back immediately and made one more break in the eleventh game which was enough for him to take the first set 7-5 in 51 minutes.
Novak was brilliant in the second set. He broke his opponent’s service twice, in the second and sixth games, and won it 6-1 in just 26 minutes.
There were no chances for break in the third set until the 12th game, when Federer earned three in a row, which were also set points. He converted the first to clinch the set 7-5.
Djokovic raised the level of his game in the fourth set. He put the pressure on no.2 seed and just like in the second set made a double break and cemented it with a love hold for 5-1. The 23-year-old from Belgrade served it out 6-2.
The match went into a deciding set, the first time they have played a fifth set against each other in their career. Nole pushed Federer to deuce in the third game, but the Swiss held. The best Serbian tennis player put up a great fight again in the seventh game, but Federer survived. Novak faced two break/match points serving to stay in the match in the tenth game, but fought bravely and held to level the result. He then made a break to go up 6-5 earning himself opportunity to serve out the match. He saved a break point before closing the set and match 7-5.
Djokovic has been beaten by Federer at the US Open for the past three years, now he’s won and prevented the Swiss from reaching his seventh consecutive final in New York. With this victory, Nole will surpass Federer in the ATP Rankings as of Monday, September 13, to re-claim the no.2 spot.
It's Novak’s sixth win in their sixteen matches.
" It was just a big pleasure playing in this kind of match, " said Djokovic after the victory. " It's one of those matches you'll always remember in your career, not just because you won against one of the best players that ever played this game, but coming back from match points down and playing good tennis to win in the end. I'm just so thrilled to be in the final. "
" To be honest I was just closing my eyes and hitting forehands as fast as I can on the match points. If it goes in, it goes in. If it goes out, you know, another loss to Federer in the US Open. I managed to come back. I was very lucky. "
" The fifth set was very intense - mentally and physically - and took a lot out of me, " said Nole. " But in the end, it's a remarkable win, and I'm sure I will find the strength to give my best tomorrow in the court. "
